STAR* - Liverpool Biennial 2002 Education Programme
STAR (schools, teachers, artists, research) was an action research project initiated by Liverpool Biennial which explored ways in which contemporary visual art can support the teaching of non-art subjects. Over six months the project had worked with 7 schools across Merseyside.
STAR was launched in December 2001 at Dadafest. In collaboration with NWDAF it provided opportunities for disabled artists to run projects in Merseyview School and Sandfield Park School. This part of STAR also looked at providing positive role models for young people in special needs schools.
The project continued with artists working in St. Marys College, Speke Community School, Holly Lodge Girls College, West Derby Comprehensive School and Elimu Academy. These projects were delivered in partnership with Arts in Regeneration, the Windows Project and First Take.
I was responsible for the Project Management and Lead Artist working with Year 10 pupils from Holly Lodge Girls College and West Derby Comprehensive School.
