Biography
I am currently studying part time for a MA Contemporary Fine Art: Curating at Sheffield Hallam University. I completed my BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at SHU in 2001 and upon returning to Liverpool attained my PGCE Secondary Art and Design at LJMU in 2003.I am currently living in Nottingham with my partner where I am working as a freelance artist and towards future MA exhibitions.
I worked as a Secondary Art and Design teacher for many years and always cultivated ideas with the students I taught. My interest in photography and new media continues to grow and I feel that the MA has helped me in revisiting and rediscovering my own creative practice. I love to meet new people and see this as the basis for all my work, whether this be as a performative piece such as my video work or as a way of initiating a conversation between strangers. I believe that the photographer and the sitter have to feel at ease with one another in order for there to be a visual response. I have developed this understanding through club photography and working with many bands.
I have been commissioned by Liverpool Biennial to work on projects with students and community groups.
These projects have been 'Lighten Up, STAR*, gossip and at a glance’.
Permanent paintings are held at Holly Lodge Girls College and West Derby School, Liverpool and photographs purchased by Liverpool Housing Action Trust.
