Introduction

My artistic practice focuses on photography and new media. My background is in Secondary Art teaching and I have also undertaken many successful commissions over the past few years. I have recently returned to education to revisit and rediscover my creative practice.

I am currently studying part time for an MA in Contemporary Fine Art: Curating at Sheffield Hallam University 2006 - 2009. As part of this I have been involved with Sheffield Hallam Curators Forum (SHCF) and have had a number of exhibitions in the Site Gallery, One Night Stands #1 - Wimbledon College of Art (UAL) and at the End Gallery, Sheffield.

I have teamed up with Diana Ali (fellow artist and curator), Anna Smith (Communications Officer), Charlie MacDonald (Episode Management), Lisa McCastkill (Communications Officer) and Sean Simmonds (Graphic Designer) to form 'Up & Coming' at Novas Contemporary Urban Centre, Liverpool in July 2008. This is to be initiated under the Crawley & Ali umbrella.

At present I am working with the notion of the 'passport image' and how the UK Passport Office rejects at least 20% of all photographs. My project is entitled 'Photo Booth 2008' and my intention is for as many participants to be filmed whilst being photographed in a passport style and self-certify their images using my version the passport application. This has been sponsored by Severn Trent Searches in terms of photographic work.
